Justin Sanders is a registered patent attorney and co-founder of Master Key IP, where he assists clients with all aspects of identifying, protecting and monetizing their intellectual property in both the U.S. and abroad - all at reasonable flat fee rates.

Born and raised in Orange County, California, Justin graduated from California State University, Long Beach, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Human Resources Management. During that time, he was a member of both the Dean's List and President's List, and became a lifetime member of Tau Beta Pi, the oldest engineering honor society in the United States. Justin went on to attend Whittier Law School, where he received his Juris Doctorate with magna cum laude honors, along with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. Ranked in the top of his class, Justin remained on the Dean's List and Honor Roll during his entire time at Whittier, was a Fellow in the Center for Intellectual Property Law, participated as a member of both the Intellectual Property Law Society and the Entertainment and Sports Law Society, and served as a tutor and mentor to fellow classmates.

Prior to founding Master Key IP, Justin worked as an associate and eventual partner at a boutique intellectual property law firm called Mind Law Firm, which subsequently merged with another boutique firm called One3 IP Management, which was later renamed to Entralta. Throughout those initial 15 years of his legal career, Justin assisted clients with the gamut of intellectual property-related matters, including: performing various types of patent- and trademark-related searches; preparing and prosecuting utility and design patent applications - both in the U.S. and abroad - covering a wide range of technologies; preparing and prosecuting federal and foreign trademark and trade dress applications; rendering patent and trademark infringement and validity/invalidity opinions; obtaining federal copyright registrations; designing and implementing trade secret protection protocols; and negotiating and drafting a multitude of intellectual property and related business agreements. Justin continues to offer these various services to clients of Master Key IP.

In addition to servicing clients through Master Key IP, Justin is actively involved with a number of local incubators and accelerators, including the CSUF Startup Incubator, hosted by Cal State Fullerton, where he serves as a mentor to resident startups and entrepreneurs, providing guidance on various intellectual property issues.

Justin has also had the honor of being selected for inclusion in the Southern California Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers consecutively from 2013 to 2017, and again from 2019 to 2022 (a distinction only awarded to less than 2.5 percent of all attorneys in the state each year), in addition to being named as a Super Lawyer in 2024 (a distinction only awarded to 5 percent of all attorneys in the state each year).

Justin currently resides in Huntington Beach, California, with his wife, daughter and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, swimming, live music (both listening and playing), and spending quality time with his family.
